Also referred to as an Air Cylinder, Linear Actuator or Linear Slide, this unit can be applied in linear motion systems, and is ideal for use as a component in pick and place stations, utilizing elastomer or oil cushions to cushion the end stroke. All parts are anodized or zinc plated and can be easily mounted to METO-FER USA modular brackets and stands. The stroke can be easily adjusted, and vertical units are mounted without adapter plates. This unit utilizes compressed air as its operating medium, and features precision ball bearing operation for smooth linear motion.
A typical pick and place application includes a stand base, pillar, mounting plates, a linear unit (such as Meto-Fer model LH), a vertical unit (such as Meto-Fer model VE), a gripper (such as Meto-Fer model KZP), flow control valves, sensors and cable. In addition to pick and place applications, linear slides are used for assembly, inspection, pushing, pulling, pressing, transfer, advanced positioning, and multiple axis configurations such as X-Y applications. Linear actuators are well suited for applications including lab and medical equipment, pharmaceutical, packaging, linear motion, robotics and many other industrial automation applications.
These components have a life of up to 20 million cycles, and once the initial life cycle has been achieved, they can be easily and economically repaired using METO-FER USA repair kits for extended life cycles and service.
The Linear Unit, Meto-Fer model LH is available in various service capacities from LH 100, LH 150, LH 200, LH 300, LH 400, with adjustable stroke ranges from 0-100 mm to 0-400 mm. Piston force at 72.5 psi (5 bar) is 51 lb (226 N). Load capacity ranges from 6.6 lb (3.0 kg) to 61.7 lb (28.0 kg).
The Linear Unit, Meto-Fer model LH features patented stop screws that can be fitted with Meto-Fer sensing elements for precision position adjustment. This component can be ordered without cushions, with elastomer cushions, or with oil cushions and oil reservoir (Meto-Fer model KOB 50).
